There are plenty of slang terms for bisexuals. Some are insulting, some funny, and some are actually kinda cool. Very few actually fit bisexuality though. One that does is VERSATILE. To be versatile is to be able to adapt or be adapted to many different functions or activities. It is to be flexible, and multifaceted. That is a very good way to explain how many bisexuals see themselves. Bisexuals are versatile. So, here we have the word VERSATILE done with bi pride colors and with an underline also done in the bi pride colors just to make sure people get it if they know what those colors stand for.
We made this one after someone requested it for a button design.
Why a Bisexual Awareness Ribbon? Bisexual visibility is very important and bisexual erasure is so common that it seems a plague. Awareness ribbons are well known and understood. The ribbon itself is synonymous with the idea of awareness. When people see ribbons of different colors that they don’t know they often ask “what is that?” When they see colors they do know it sets them thinking about the subject. It was suggested to us that a bisexual awareness ribbon pin in the bisexual pride colors would be cool. We went with a cartooned drawing style to make it pop easily and give it a playful look. Bisexuality exists, bisexuality is real and natural. Bisexual erasure isn’t cool, biphobia is bad. Educate yourself and educate others on the subjects bisexuals must deal with on a regular basis. Spread the awareness.
Three little cartoon styled penguins each in one of the colors of the bi pride flag with hearts above. The message is “bi love” and the center penguin’s heart contains the bi bride overlapping triangles symbol. Cute, fun, and all about bisexual visibility.
Though this design isn’t really part of our Bi Nature project because we didn’t do a version that specifically says “Bi Nature,” it still represents the idea because do practice bisexual behavior.
Many penguins have long been looked at as a species that sometimes practices homosexual behavior. Turns out however that what we had from the science community in this case was a big batch of bisexual erasure.
Though the “homosexual activity” was documented heavily in many types of penguins the scientist always seemed to neglect the fact that these “homosexual” penguins who would often return to “heterosexual behavior” and then sometimes back to “homosexual behavior,” and maybe back again… are in fact bisexual.
Sadly a lack of understanding and education often results in such mislabeling when people study the animal kingdom.
Happily I really doubt the penguins themselves care about how humans label them though.
Anyways, we made this shirt design for it’s cute and fun factor above anything else.
If you happen to be bi and also happen to think penguins are cute as all get out… this shirt is for you!
Sometimes we want to be a bit more subtle than others. A giant bi pride flag doesn’t always need to be waved around every second of the day, but visibility is important.
This is simple and to the point. A check-mark in a bi pride colors pattern that basically says “I’m bisexual and proud of it” without actually saying a word.
Bisexual in the house?
Oh yes… Check! √
We have all heard people say bisexuality is weird, and unnatural. What does nature itself have to say about that? Nature says bisexuality is 100% natural when it comes to giraffes.
This fun design features two very cute and very close giraffes in a cartoon style that just happen to have spots of the bisexual pride colors and the text “Bi Nature” below them because, well… giraffes are naturally bisexual creatures.
Bisexual erasure is huge within the LGBT communities. It seems that every other pride event and or equality campaign talks about gays and lesbians while forgetting the B and T. Of those who do try and be a bit more inclusive it is often just adding in the T while still not including the bisexuals. Biphobia among monosexuals is often the culprit, but also it is often lack of our own bisexual voices and visibility within the lgbtq communities.
I personally am sick and tired of the B being left out… so, here we have the BIG B in the LGBT.
This design features The letters LGBT with the B enlarged so people take note along with a check-mark done in the bisexual pride colors on the big B just in case somebody doesn’t get it.
A perfect and simple shirt design that shouts out to end bisexual erasure and pushes for inclusion while also giving us (the bisexuals of the world) some bi visibility in general.
We are all about dispelling the biphobic idea that bisexuality isn’t natural. One way to do that in our opinion is to look at nature itself. Many animals just happen to be bisexual by nature. (Bi Nature)
The legendary king of the beasts just happens to be bisexual himself. Note I said “himself.”
In the wild pretty much all male lions are bisexual. Female lions on the other hand have been noted to be bisexual, but it isn’t the usual. In the wild most of the time lionesses play it straight. Not all, but usually.
In captivity however lionesses are much more apt to get loving with other females. Why this is so science hasn’t proven yet.
As for our shirt design… we have created two different versions.
The Bi Nature version because lions are naturally bisexual and the Bi-Furious version because we thought nothing represented bi-furiousness as much as a pissed off lion.
and the “bi nature” one…
Each one is a tad different, but from the same drawing.
We thought ourselves extra special nifty when we thought of doing the nose in a double triangle bi pride symbol. 🙂 Hopefully you like it too.
Whether you are more after showing the world that bisexuality is natural or proclaiming that you are a bit bi-furious… I think we have you covered.
